Welcome to the Austin, Texas
Raw Feeders' Co-op Web site.
The Austin Raw Feeders' Co-op is a purchasing
cooperative for people in the Austin, Texas metropolitan
areas (including Buda, San Marcos, Kyle, Pflugerville, Round Rock, Hutto, Cedar Park, Leander, Manor,
Elgin, Bastrop and Georgetown)
who feed their pets a natural, fresh foods diet. We are an unincorporated non-profit association of friendly, like-minded people who value cooperative ideals. We hold co-op socials for members, canine play days, and community outreach classes.
Many of our members
feed a meat and bones-based raw diet
based on the work of Dr. Ian Billinghurst (formerly known as Bones and Raw
Food, or BARF), but several different styles of feeding are represented in
our membership and everyone is welcome, including those who feed a
prey model diet, a
cooked home-prepared diet or follow a different diet such as Wendy
Volhard's.
Membership in the co-op
allows us to band together and use our collective economic power to make
direct bulk food purchases from many different suppliers--saving everyone money
and providing a greater variety in our pets' diet. Whenever possible, we
purchase from suppliers who offer natural, grass-fed, and/or organic
products.
